Torch Journeys to Medals Plaza
For the first time ever, the Olympic flame will be split. That means torchbearers will carry the torch from the University of Utah to the Medals Plaza to light another cauldron tonight.


(Feb. 9, 2002)------The gates at the Medals Plaza opened at 5:30. You need a ticket to get in.

The Medals Ceremony begins at 8:00. The flame is expected to arrive at 8:05.

Then at 9:00, the Dave Mathews Band concert begins.

Here's the route the torch will take:

From the University of Utah to South Temple, left on South Temple.

Right on West Temple, left on North Temple.

Enter Medals Plaza from North Temple.

Twelve Olympic flagbearers from 1960-2002 will carry the flame.
