VIP Torchbearers in Utah
Who will carry the Olympic flame as it makes its way through Utah? SLOC released the names of some of the well-known torchbearers.


(Jan. 31, 2002)------Feb. 4-- Highlighted torchbearers for the day include:


Frank Arrowchis (Native American) – Delicate Arch
Stephanie Laree Spann (Native American) – Delicate Arch
Forrest Cuch (Native Americans) – Delicate Arch
Larry Blackhair (Native American) – Delicate Arch
Tawnie Snow Knight (Native American) – Delicate Arch
CJ Young (Olympian) – Moab
Mike Schlappi (Paralympian) – St. George

Feb. 5-- Highlighted torchbearers for the day include:

Fred Adams (Notable) – Cedar City
Blaine Lindgren (Olympian) – Ephraim
LaVell Edwards (Sports) – Provo

Feb. 6-- Highlighted torchbearers for the day include:

Randy Will (Olympian) – Orem
Donny Osmond (Celebrity)– American Fork
Marie Osmond (Celebrity)– American Fork
Amy Palmer (Olympian) – Tooele
Kathaleen Cuton (Olympian) – Logan
Norman Wahlstrom (September 11) – Ogden
Dale Murphy (Sports) – Ogden

Feb. 7-- Highlighted torchbearers for the day include:

Muffy Davis (Paralympian) – Henefer
Luke Bodensteiner (Olympian) - Heber City
Heidi Voelker (Olympian) – Park City
Alan K. Engen (Sports) – Park City
Marv Melville (Olympian) - Park City
Thurl Bailey (Sports) – Salt Lake City
Henry Marsh (Olympian) – Salt Lake City
Mary Ann Cowen (ADA Consortium) – Salt Lake City

Feb. 8-- Highlighted torchbearers for the day include:

Roma Downey (Celebrity) – Murray
Ron McBride (Sports) – Salt Lake City
Merlin Olsen (Sports) – Kearns
Joan Guetschow (Olympian) - Kearns

We also know that President Gordon B. Hinckley of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and former football star, Steve Young, will participate in the torch relay. We just don't know when or where.

This list is not complete. It does not include torchbearers on the evenings of Feb. 7th or 8th-- those have not been released yet.

SLOC will not release the exact locations these torchbearers will be carrying the flame until the day before they actually carry it.
