Olympic organizers are offering their first ticket refunds. It involves the Peaks ice arena in Provo.
|

(Jan. 25, 2002)------SLOC will give refunds or coupons to people whose view of hockey games could be obstructed by building columns at the Peaks Ice Arena in Provo.
Spectators who decide to keep a hockey seat with a poor view will be given a $10 coupon for food or beverages.
Or, ticket holders can get a refund on their tickets.
The viewing problem affects more than 1,000 seats at one end of the Peaks arena. More than 23-thousand tickets were sold in that section.
More Info
Following a site inspection, SLOC president Mitt Romney determined 1,230 seats in the west end zone of the arena are partially obstructed by two columns.
After installing temporary bleachers, SLOC observed that two 24 inch wide columns between the ice hockey rink and the west zone will block portions of the ice from some spectators view. SLOC says all of these seats have unobstructed views of both goals.
All of the 1,230 seats affected are B seats and range in price from $45 to $75 to $125 depending on the game.
Refunds will be granted to the purchaser of the tickets, either via check or VISA, depending on the original method of payment. In order to be eligible for a refund, ticket holders must immediately return their tickets to the SLOC Ticketing Customer Service Center at 299 S. Main St. Ticket envelopes must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2002.
Alternatively, ticket holders may return their tickets in person to the SLOC Ticketing Customer Service Center at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center at 138 West Broadway, no later than January 31, 2002. All ticket holders were emailed this information on Friday.
"A" seats were available Friday for all 24 Peaks sessions, but some events had as few as 102 seats left.
