Snowboarding Venue: Waiting For Snow
The Park City Mountain Resort will host one of the hottest shows around-- the Snowboarding Halfpipe event.
|

(Nov. 17, 2001)------
It will take 500 thousand feet of snow to actually prepare the halfpipe. That's enough snow to completely cover 33 football fields.
15 guys will spend around 14 hours to simply "shape" all that snow, and it will demand the efforts of the Pipe Dragon.
It was invented by a farmer living on the front range of Colorado.
Jeff "Frosty" Frost/Snowboard Events Manager, PCMR: "OVER THE WINTER HE JUST FABRICATED IT PIECE BY PIECE BY PIECE BY PIECE. CHAINS, AND LITTLE SHOVELS, AND METAL HERE, AND METAL THERE, AND NOW IT'S THE PIPE DRAGON WHICH IS THE BEST IN MOST PEOPLE'S MINDS IMPLEMENT TO CUT THE PIPE."
The Pipe Dragon is still waiting for snow. But as the scaffolding rises, the Park City Mountain Resort is looking more and more like a place where the world is welcome for 17 days in February.
